The Microwave and the Oven

There are two ways to bring a cold slice back to life. The oven, patient and warm, restores the pizza as Cheesus intended. The microwave, quick and careless, returns a rubbery shadow of the former slice.

So it is with the way we mend what has gone cold — a friendship, an apology, a wound. The quick fix seems kind to your schedule but cruel to the thing itself. Some restorations cannot be rushed.

Give the good things your patience. Choose the oven.
